About Rehoboth Beach Real Estate

In 1871, the Rehoboth association was formed and the following year the association purchased roughly 400 acres of land from the John Marsh and Lorenzo Dow Martin families for less than $15,000. The property was located at a spot about five miles south of Lewes, in an area designated as the Rehoboth Hundred, or Rehoboth Neck, near the present Lewes-Rehoboth Canal. It was November 1872- the beginning of what we now know as Rehoboth Beach. Fast forward 136 years, and my, how the prices have changed! These days it is rare to find a downtown Rehoboth Beach condo for less than $500,000. Downtown Rehoboth Beach single family homes start around $700,000 and can top $12 million. West of the canal, home prices slowly fall as you get farther from the Ocean. Less than two miles from the beach single family home prices drop back into $300K - $500K price range.
